Summer is a season that is full of romance, refreshing vacations, sunshine, and fruits. However, summer also comes with some issues that are not good for your skin. You need to learn how to stay healthy and beautiful during this time of the year, using our 5 do it yourself (DIY) skincare recipes. These recipes will help you to keep your skin refreshing, clean, healthy, and looking great.

  • Hydrate Yourself more and more
  • Hydrating yourself every day with water will be a great routine during summer. Making sure a water bottle is there everywhere you are, is a good idea. It also has to be a water bottle with the right sized mouth. You don’t want to have water running down your clothes because the drinking spot of the bottle is not the best. Soaking your body with water that way can discourage you from drinking more. In summer water should never lack beside you. Keeping yourself hydrated is more than important against the summer heat.  Remember that people naturally lose a lot of water at this time as they go about their daily activities. So, staying hydrated in summer keeps you fresh and beautiful. Here is the recipe you need.



    •    Lemon - 10 slices
      •     Cucumber - 10 slices of
      •     Muddled basil - 10 leaves
      •     Water - 4 cups


    Put all these ingredients in a pitcher and add water. Mingle them in a refrigerator for about an hour before you enjoy them.

  • Protect the skin from environmental pollutants
  • You must protect yourself from sun damage. Get a natural sunscreen for that purpose. Lemon and honey are excellent ingredients for lightening your skin. Also, with banana, the mask of your skin will be more solid.



    • Banana - 1 ripe. Or Ripe Papaya - ½ a cup
    • Honey 1 - teaspoon
    • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
    • Oats (optional) - ¼ cup


    Get a bowl to mash your banana in and add lemon juice and honey. If you choose to add oats, do so after 10 minutes. Apply the mask on your skin and wait for it to penetrate for about 15-20 minutes before you wash it off.  

  • Have a nice natural smell
  • Summertime is a time to look your best and sexy. Summer gives you that dewy skin, glowing hair and that’s when you should put on that amazing summer dress. You don’t need to smell bad during such a time. Just make sure not to use deodorants that are not natural. You need healthy ones. Stay away from deodorants that have an ingredient like aluminum which contains toxic chemicals.

    Also, eat plants likefenugreek.It brings out seeds that smell like syrup. It doesn’t sound common, but it applies very well. Get the sprouted seeds of this plant and eat them in summer. Soak the seeds clean for up to eight hours. Remove the water, rinse it and drain the seeds 1 – 2 times every day in three days.  You can eat the sprout in salad, sandwich or with nothing else.     • Distilled water - 3 tablespoons
    • Witch hazel - 3 tablespoons  
    • Tea tree essential oil - 2 drops
    • Safe essential - oil 2 drops
    • Lemon essential oil - 2 drops
    • Lavender essential oil - 2 drops


    Mix all these ingredients in a mist bottle. You also choose to store them inside a glass jar and use a cotton ball to apply it.

  • Know the oils you use
  • Every type of oil comes with its properties and specific results on your skin. You need to know different oil types and what they can do on your skin type. In summer, the sun dries up the skin. This means you have to switch to a different oil type. You don’t want your skin too oily or showing signs of aging due to the oil you’re using.


    Coconut is the right oil to fight a dry skin issue. It soothes your skin. Use it after being outdoors.


    Does summer make you too oily? Get the hazelnut oil to moisturize your skin. It doesn’t make it greasy. It comes with properties that fix any issues with those oily skin patches you may have.  


    This type of oil is perfect for all skin tones. Also, it helps your skin to lose less water. This happens without completely blocking vapor and gas transportation.



    •    Carrier oil of your choice - 1 ounce
      •     Essential oil of your choice - 15 drops

    Some choices of essential oil to use:  

    • Neroli essential oil
    • Carrot seed essential oil
    • Passion fruit seed essential oil

  • Drink More Juice
  • Drink enough fresh juice to have a complete summer beauty routine. Juicing is good all the time, but in summer, juice is the best. Let’s find out why

    1. Squeezed juice has antioxidants which protect you from pollutants in the environment.  This property is very important against sunburns.  
    2. Summers comes with much fresh produce. Get these veggies and fruits to juice up your body.
    3. Warm months reduce the metabolic needs of some people. That’s why many become are less hungry in summer. So, you can sometimes eat fruits instead of meals. Do that, and it will transform your system. If you want to live a healthy life from your skin to the inside, eat many fresh fruits.


    •    Romaine lettuce - 3 - 4 leaves
      •     Kale 3 to 4 - leaves
      •     Endive - 3 to 4 leaves
      •     Spinach - 1 handful
      •     Broccoli - 2 stems
      •     1 cucumber
      •     Strawberries - 5 to 6
      •     Basil - 2 to 3 leaves
      •     Wheatgrass (optional)


    Get a juicer. Wash all these ingredients and juice it through the juicer. Take the wheatgrass and sprinkle on the top.

    Remember that everything you do has to be a healthy regimen. To be really beautiful, you have to be healthy. Make sure that protecting your skin from the sun is key to having the best skin.
