How to Do an At-Home Facial

June 16, 2019

The comfortable treatment you get from a professional facial is amazing. You will love the look of your skin and how it feels at the end of the process. A facial is the best way to give yourself some care and love. Facials are expensive though experts recommend a facial after 4 or 6 weeks. As a professional, I have given great facials to many customers, and they have always felt renewed and loved it.

How to Perform a Facial At Home

  1. Cleanse

The first step is cleansing to remove all dirt, makeup, and oil. Cleansing gives products the chance to soak into your skin without any problem.

Technique: Take a few minutes and wash your face gently. Begin rinsing with lukewarm water with a little amount of your favorite cleanser. Now, wash upward and in circular motions using both your ring and middle fingers. Stimulate your skin with medium pressure. Lift and tone your facial muscle in the cleansing motion. Rinse with lukewarm water to finish and dry your skin with a washcloth.

  1. Exfoliate

Your skin is now cleansed, so you can exfoliate it to make it smoother and healthier. Exfoliation helps to even out your skin tone, refine the way pores look and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

Technique: Apply a little amount of scrub to your facial skin. Use the upward, circular motion technique. The pressure should be light and for 1-2 minutes. It’s your choice to consider using an enzymatic or chemical exfoliation.

  1. Steam

Steam is a cleansing part of the facial that is highly relaxing. It comes with a great home spa vibe. It helps pores to open.

How to steam: Boil water in a larger pot. Drape a towel such that it covers your head and lean your face carefully to the pot over the steam. Let your face absorb the warm steam. If you want, you can add rose petals, thyme, rosemary, a couple of essential oil drops, etc. 10-15 minutes are enough (with optional breaks)

  1. Extractions

Only a licensed professional should extract blackheads on you because you risk doing it wrong. You don’t want to tear your skin. Blackheads look like black” dots” on the nose, forehead, chin, etc, but they are oxidized sebum which is oil.

Never extract or squeezed pimples (whiteheads) because that will aggravate inflammation and cause skin breakage and lead to scarring. Professional steam before they extract blackheads.

  1. Treatment Mask

Now it’s time to enjoy some pampering, following the deep cleaning steps. It’s a tender loving moment on your skin. The treatment mask is moreor less like the peak of facial. Your skin gets nutrients at this time stage. Go for a mask that matches your skin type. It should be good for dry or oily, normal and sensitive skin.

Technique: Apply the mask for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can now place your cucumber slices on your eyes if you want. Get rid of them using a warm washcloth. Use warm water to splash the skin.

  1. Tone + treat

Keep on repeating that very process of your everyday facial regimen. Mist and allow your skin to dry, then apply your bestserum. Good for you if your favorite serum gives you that cooling effect.

  1. Moisturize

Moisturizing is an important final step to give your face the beauty and fresh skin you intend to have. Massage that oil or serum deep down into the skin for between 1 to 2 minutes. Facial massage is a sweet way to give your facial skin tone a great lift in appearance. It relieves tension and helps the oil to go deeper so that your skin can become super lovely. Apply a mist to tone the skin and push the facial oils further in, to end the process. Finally, you have given yourself a great at-home facial.
